going offline for a little while...

This was the first scrapbook page I did. I saw the paper and the layout just fell into place. I knew what I wanted it to look like before I had even chosen the photograph. Unlike the other two pages where I was constantly moving things around and changing things until I was happy. I will eventually put some journaling on these pages. I want to put one word (in chipboard letters) on the page somewhere, but I'm not sure which word to have... any ideas?

My mum took this photograph of me when we were in the car on the way to the church. I was so excited I thought I would burst.

I played about with this page (below) quite a lot before sticking anything down. In the end I was so fed up with my indecisiveness that I stuck it all down anyway, even though I didn't think it was 'perfect'. I'm thinking that the word for this page will be 'spin'. What do you think?

I couldn't decide what kind of embellishments I wanted on this page, so I made these little paper flower thingys. A great way to use up your scraps. I'll show you how I made them in my next post.

Well  folks, I am going to have a little break from blogging. Just a week or so (I don't think I'll be able to resist for much longer than that). I hope you like my scrapbook pages. I'd love to know what you think. I am so loving scrapbooking right now! I shall return soon with more crafty adventures.
Cheerio for now! Pippa x

I've got the bug...

I have officially got the scrapbooking bug. I have finally begun making my wedding scrapbook, and this is the first completed page. I have done two other pages, but I need some text on them. I'll show them to you tomorrow (even though they're not finished!). I used to really turn my nose up at scrapbooking, believing that it wasn't 'proper' art. When I was very into selling my handmade cards, I didn't see the point in scrapbooking because it didn't make any money. After pouring hours over designing and making one very special card, I then felt quite sad at the thought that, once it had served its purpose, it would end up in the bin. Which is when I began warming to the idea of scrapbooking: you work hard on making a pretty page; pairing a photograph with a memory, and then you get to put it in an album and look at it again and again. I've kind of gone full circle: now I don't make cards so much because it means parting with something I have made. And, to be honest, not that many people care much about a handmade card. So they are reserved for extra special occasions now. Anyway, back onto the scrapbooking...

A good friend of ours (and one of my bridesmaids) sang one of my favourite songs at our wedding and I really wanted to include the lyrics to the song on the scrapbook page. I'm really pleased with how this turned out. What a treasure our completed wedding scrapbook will be. Even if I am the only person who will look at it again and again, that is enough for me.

world premier: MY FIRST SCRAPBOOK!

So technically it's a 'mini album'. I'm so pleased with it! I'll put more pictures on Flickr (link on the left) if you want to see more. Also on Flickr, I'll explain a little more about what I did on each page. I'm going to carry it in my handbag so that I can show everyone I know! I've been going on and on to Mr Pippa about how I want to get into scrapbooking but I've never actually done anything about it. Also I think a 12 x 12 page can seem pretty daunting, but a mini album is a bit easier; a bit friendlier. Now that I've been eased-in gently with a mini album, I am going to go and get started on scrapbook pages of our wedding. I've been meaning to do it for ages (since September, in fact) but I kind of needed a bit of practice first. I'm ready now. Scrapbooking: here I come!

backdated art cards

I haven't forgotten about showing you the pictures from the scrapbook. In fact, not only have I already taken the pictures, but I have put them on my desktop ready to upload (it's easier from the desktop, trust me). But for now, I thought I'd show you the backdated art cards starting with this one which I have updated. That was when I was in London for the weekend and wasn't feeling particularly arty. Nothing like a hole-punch to jazz something up!

This 'play' one (above) was the day I got my belated birthday present: the Crop-a-Dile. I was punching holes in anything I could find: paper, card, chipboard, CDs, records, tin cans. It was only appropriate that I used it for that day's card.
Scraps from my scrapbook. I will post pictures today, I promise.

NOT impressed

Recently (for my birthday), I got a Crop-a-Dile. I love it. I can make holes in absolutely anything and I can set eyelets so easily - no hammer needed! It's wonderful. Yesterday, the matching case for it finally arrived in the post and my lovely Crop-a-Dile had a home at last, along with the pretty eyelets. It all looked beautiful...

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Isn't it lovely? Doesn't it look so happy? Don't you just want to sing to it? But wait! What's this? BROKEN?!

That's right. I had had it in my possession for about 4 hours (and I hadn't been holding it the whole time, either) and it was already broken. We R Memory Keepers: why would you make such a flimsy box? Why? The Crop-a-Dile is so strong and wonderful; why would you encase it with something so very inferior?? I am not impressed.

But on a VERY exciting note, I shall be revealing the photographs from my FIRST EVER SCRAPBOOK tomorrow. That's right: tomorrow! Oh yes folks, it's good. I am so excited about it! I want to rush out and show everyone but I know that, realistically, not many people would be interested. But you'll be excited for me, won't you?

my first ever scrapbook

I've almost finished my first ever scrapbook, so I thought I'd give you a sneak peak. I've been really busy lately, so I have loads of art cards to show you, but the scrapbook is stealing my attention right now. I'll blog again soon. I won't leave it as long as last time (have you noticed the Tuesday/Thursday pattern recently? I wonder why that is). Cheerio for now!

lots of daily art cards

My most recent art cards. As you can see, there's been a dramatic change in the weather. Where it was warm and sunny, it is now cold, wet and very gloomy. Still, it was lovely while it lasted.
